Urban Farm Girl PNW

My father’s family came from Mustiers, France as well as Mexico; rooted and grounded in arts, music and botany. It’s easy to see how all of these things revolve around souls.
He was the gatherer in the family; people were drawn to him naturally. He was also the artist; the lover of color, baseball, animals, gardening and good food. My mother’s family had emigrated from Spain through Mexico; they brought culture, social graces, dance and hospitality . She had creativity running through her veins and I remember being amazed at how she made everything around her bolder, brighter, better…
I feel blessed that I am able to do what I love and have a creative business . I believe the love of art and people was instilled in me as a little girl in a colorful border town in San Diego. Five days a week my parents worked hard in the states, cared for seven kids, had us learning english in school; the other two days they steeped us in their cultures across the border. It was there at my grandmother’s knee that I learned French and how to make quilts out of colorful vintage fabrics .
My first solo art project was taking a pair of my dads corduroy pants and inserting triangle patches to make them into bell bottoms. I carefully chose each piece out of her scrap pile. I was happier than a lark to wear the pants to school but didn't have the confidence to tell my friends that I had made them. I was shy and insecure even though my friends told me the pants were amazing. I still have a hard time promoting my work although I am proud of it--mostly because it originates in my heart and it's really about the people I create with, not the finished product.
Fast forward to today: I feel as if my heart explodes with every person I meet. I am overwhelmingly communal and I love learning about individuals and families--where they come from, who they are, where they are in life and (of course!) what they like to create. I love the exchange that happens over creating, coffee, food, wine and music--the way souls intermingle and inspiration is born!
This to me is real art…it's called LIFE.

Like I said earlier, I feel blessed to be able to do what I love, it's my passion, PEOPLE are my passion...oh, yeah! AND shepherding sheep, growing flowers...the simple life of farming.

On our fiber farm you will find Romney and Coopworth sheep, alpacas, Angora rabbits, goats and chickens. We welcome folks to take a tour on Cornish Family Farm, sit down for a farm-to-table meal or dive into a creative encounter.
Spring is the perfect time to schedule an outdoor class. We open our farm to local artisans and invite them to teach watercolor, charcoal. oils, pastels and acrylics. Make it a date and paint while gazing over our garden, complete with grazing lambs and alpacas .
In the Summer we would love take you through an entire process of "unzipping" a sheep’s coat! Choose one of our sheep, have it sheared, then take your wool home to process it OR schedule an afternoon to have us walk you through the steps before enjoying a meal with us at the end of the day.
Autumn gatherings also include hand-stitching, junk journaling , fermenting foods, baking bread from scratch, tamale making and creating macaroons or candy.
